Attention parents: A toy recently distributed in McDonald’s Happy Meals has been recalled because it can pose a choking hazard.
The Hello Kitty whistles were distributed nationwide in October and the first week of November, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. The whistle is being voluntarily recalled by McDonald’s.

“Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and this includes the toys we offer them,” McDonald’s said in a statement.
McDonald’s has received two reports of children choking on the toy, including one who required medical attention, the company said.
Some 2.5 million whistles were manufactured as part of a Hello Kitty 40th anniversary promotion, McDonald’s said. About 1.6 million whistles have so far been recovered by the company.
Anyone who received the toy is asked to bring it back to a McDonald’s, where they’ll receive a replacement toy as well as a yogurt tube or bag of apples.
