Patient Under Evaluation in Philadelphia Does Not Have Ebola

The patient, who was isolated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Friday, recently traveled to West Africa.

A patient who was evaluated for Ebola Friday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania does not have the disease, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

According to the Inquirer, the patient, who was in a special isolation room earlier Friday, recently traveled to West Africa.

Before the test results came back, a hospital spokeswoman said heath care workers believed the risk of Ebola was low, according to CBS Philly.

The hospital released the following statement:

“Preparations for the possibility of caring for a patient with the Ebola virus have been underway for several months at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). A patient who recently returned from West Africa is currently being evaluated in a special isolation room at HUP. The patient is stable and we believe the risk of Ebola is quite low.”
