Queen of Angels Makes Beautiful Music at the Hershey Music Showcase
On Friday, May 20th, the eager members of the QOA Chorus, Jazz Band and Senior Band boarded a bus bright and early in the morning to head to the Hershey Music Showcase. Upon arriving at the competition, it was clear that QOA was going to be one of the smallest groups competing that day. First, the Jazz Band delivered one of their best performances of the year. Next up was the Senior Band and they did a terrific job. Finally, many of the Senior Band members had to furiously race off stage to rush to join the Chorus who were slated to compete immediately following Senior Band. These members of both ensembles kept their composure, got ready to sing and the Chorus delivered an outstanding performance.
Next, it was off the Hersheypark for an afternoon of well deserved fun after a year of hard work! At 7pm, all the bands/choirs gathered to hear the results. While many of the larger groups began to chant for their schools, a very mighty "QOA!!!" chant came from our students and their families who were there to cheer them on!

Queen of Angels was thrilled to receive the following results:
Chorus: Gold Medal 2nd place Jazz Band: Gold Medal 3rd place Sr. Band: Silver Medal 2nd place
Congratulations to 8th grader, Alexa Betuel, who earned Outstanding Soloist awards in both Chorus for her singing and Jazz Band for her flute performance.

Congratulations to all the 8th grade musicians and vocalists for all of your hard work and preparation over the years and for the great example you have set for the younger musicians. You are proof that practice pays off!!!!
Last but certainly not least, congratulations to Band Director Mr. Jeffrey Darrohn and Chorus Director Mrs. Melia Schmauk who work tirelessly with our students all year to prepare them for these performances. We are blessed to have them working with these musicians and vocalists!
