Rest Easy In the Coming Storm, Montco: PECO Launches Mobile Outage Map
The power company was much maligned after what residents and lawmakers called an unreasonable response to outages following summer storms.

PECO has launched a new mobile website and outage map, giving Montgomery County and regional customers on-the-go access, they announced in a statement Wednesday.
The power company was much maligned after what residents and lawmakers called a slow and unreasonable response to outages following early summer storms.
State Sen. Andy Dinniman explicity called for their customer service policies to be improved.

“The number one complaint I hear from constituents is that they cannot get straight answers from PECO and they are continually strung along about when their service will be restored,” Dinniman said in June.
“First they are told power will be restored at 11 p.m. Then the next day it is 3 p.m. Then they are again told 11 p.m. And this goes on for days.”

In the wake of multiple damaging storms, PECO has resigned their website to include a new outage map which customers can use to drill drown to specific townships and find estimated power return times updated every minute.
Now, they’ve added a mobile app to the overhaul.
“It’s becoming increasingly important for our customers to manage their account and receive important service information on their mobile devices,” Mike Innocenzo, PECO senior vice president and chief operating officer, said in a statement. “With these enhancements we can provide our customers the information they need, quickly and easily from the device that works best for them.”
The app and mobile website also make it easier for customers to view and pay bills, report outages, find the cause of outages, and when and if a crew has been dispatched to fix the issue.
Customers still can report electric outages by calling PECO directly at 1-800-841-4141.
