Six More Weeks of Winter Predicted as Groundhog Sees Shadow
America's most famous groundhog saw his shadow Monday, predicting six more weeks of winter.
That layer of snow coating the region will likely be here for a while and may even get deeper.
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Monday, predicting six more weeks of winter. The prediction came shortly before 7:30 a.m. at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa. Phil’s forecast was announced on the groundhog’s official website.
Legend has it that on Groundhog Dog, which is Feb. 2, if Phil sees his shadow, we will have six more weeks of winter. According to the Associated Press, Phil has forecasted a longer winter 102 times while predicting an early spring only 17 times.

The news came as the region was again receiving a serving of winter weather, including slushy snow, rain and ice that hindered morning commutes and caused some delays around the region.
