Teachers with guns is a terrible idea! In schools with barely suppressed ongoing violence, frequently supported already by a School Resource Officer, the new mission of 'favorite students' will be to wrest those firearms from teachers!; or, steal them from locked storage. Furthermore, occasionally there is emotional conflict between administration and staff, re poor evaluations, termination, assignments, other disciplinary proceedings... better NOT armed!
Teachers are already extremely stressed meeting multiple simultaneous goals and mandates. Then, there is the fact, that select staff OR principals, at any given time, may be UNDER THE INFLUENCE of controlled substances, alcohol, or prescriptions that alter their self control. This is not supposed to happen, and is rare, or sporadic across a school district, but is real problem!
Do we want staff members or administrators ARMED when their overall district-wide fitness to SAFELY STORE and/or USE FIREARMS will vary from day to day, week to week, etc.? If fire arms are not readily accessed they defeat their purpose...

Worst of all would be the principal's 'favorite student' getting hold of firearm before being delivered to juvenile court and starting their own immediate war on anyone in sight!
It would be better to build a couple secret trap doors in every school to move out-of-control student/parent/trespasser towards...where a button would drop them into a harmless container cell!
