Things To Do Near Upper Moreland This Weekend

It’s going to be a perfect weekend in the area to get out and explore. Montgomery County and the surrounding area offer no shortage of things to do, and now that the warmer weather has struck, the possibilities are endless.

Here are a few ideas for those looking for something to do this weekend.

Watch a Phillies game. The Rockies are in town this weekend, and their team is struggling. They beat the Phillies last night, 4-1, but Saturday’s (3:45) and Sunday’s (1:35) day games offer the Phils a nice shot at redemption at a team that has one of the worst records in baseball.

That being said, despite their difficulties, the Rockies have some special players. Look out for third baseman Nolan Arenado, one of the best young players in the game.

Aaron Harang is starting for the Phillies Saturday, and he’ll face Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa.

Hike the Schuylkill River Trail. The towpath that runs from Philadelphia and out into central Pennsylvania runs through Valley Forge and Phoenixville. Hikers, bikers, and runners all frequent this trail. Numerous park benches and grassy clearings offer the perfect opportunity to picnic.

Past Valley Forge, connect with the Perkiomen River Trail, which connects to the Audubon Center.

Visit Longwood Gardens. The thousand-acre plus grounds of Longwood Gardens contain one of the country’s most spectacular horticultural displays. Indoor and outdoor exhibits include educational and interactive material, sure to entertain children and adults.

PHILADANCO and BalletX, two local dance companies, will perform on a stage in the Gardens at 7:30 p.m. Other shows throughout the day include a Fountain Show at the Open Air Theatre.
