Upper Moreland Grad Earns Gymnastic Success at University of Michigan
Joanna Sampson won the NCAA national championship in the floor exercise and earned three all-American honors during the 2013 season.
Joanna Sampson has come a long way from her days at Riccochets Gymnastics Club in Willow Grove.
According to a philly.com article, Sampson, 20, has the ability to win an all-around national title as a senior at the University of Michigan in 2014. During the 2013 season, the Upper Moreland High School alumna, earned three all-American honors and won an NCAA national championship in the floor exercise.
The article states that Sampson has done well as a team captain, and was named the Big Ten women's gymnast of the year and placed third nationally in the all-around competition, in addition to winning the floor exercise title. The article further states that Sampson is a favorite to be named female athlete of the year at Michigan in July.
