We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "Students having to cross 611 and York Road, with no crossing guards! Yes, they are teenagers and know the rules of the road, but can you say that for the people behind the wheel who are anxious to get to work on time?"
  • "Not having good online communication from our PD dept. Not wanting to embrace technology and social media."
  • "Kids walking to the high school from 2 miles away down the main roads!"
  • "I don't feel safe at all having my young daughter walking to and from the high school down Davisville and Terwood Roads. It's pretty dark in the morning for a good part of the school year too."
  • "Kids having to walk 2 miles home from the high school. Some of the streets have sidewalks that weren't shoveled in the winter. Solution? Have the kids cut through the train tracks. Not acceptable."
