Watch County Commissioner Take the Ice Bucket Challenge

Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro took the ice bucket challenge.

The ice bucket challenge is moving like wildfire across social media.

Teens, adults, grandparents, famous people, politicians, athletes—it seems everyone is posing their ice bucket challenge videos online.

The latest local public figure to take the challenge is Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro, who took the ice bucket challenge after being nominated by PA Auditor General Eugene DePasquale.

Shapiro took the challenge (watch the video here) and nominated District Attorney Seth Williams and Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to follow suit.

The frenzy began just a few weeks back when Pete Frates, 29, a former Boston College baseball player battling ALS, posted his own ice bucket challenge video and nominated some friends to do it.

The way it works is once you’ve been nominated, you take the challenge within 24 hours or donate to ALS research. You also nominate three people to take the challenge.

From July 29 to Aug. 11, $1.35 million has been donated to the ALS Association, NBC News reported.
