Willow Grove Archdiocese School To Participate In Student 'Showcase Of Excellence'

During the month of April, over 40 Catholic elementary schools throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will participate in “Showcases of Excellence,” which will be held at four Archdiocesan high schools in Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, the Archdiocese announced Monday.

The elementary Showcases highlight the strong academic and fine arts programs in the parochial elementary schools.

During each “Showcase of Excellence” students will display artwork reflective of the Archdiocesan K-8 art curriculum.

Musical performances will include instrumental and choral music. Additionally there will be theatre arts and “Odyssey of the Mind” performances.

“Odyssey of the Mind” is an international educational program that provides problem-solving opportunities through creativity. Through creative performances, teams of students apply what they have learned to solve problems that range from the building of mechanical devices to unique interpretations of literary classics.

The local showcase will occur on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Pope John Paul II High School at 181 Rittenhouse Road in Royersford.

The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The participating schools in the “Showcase of Excellence” at Pope John Paul will include: Blessed Teresa of Calcutta School in Schwenksville (Montgomery County); Saint Aloysius Catholic School in Pottstown (Montgomery County);Saint Isidore School in Quakertown (Bucks County), and Saint Mary Catholic School in Schwenksville (Montgomery County).

Another local showcase will occur on Friday, April 22 at Archbishop Wood High School, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The participating schools in the “Showcase of Excellence” at Archbishop Wood will include: Mary, Mother of the Redeemer in North Wales (Montgomery County); Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School in Warminster (Bucks County);Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School in Doylestown (Bucks County);Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School in Willow Grove (Montgomery County); Saint Agnes-Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hilltown (Bucks County);Saint Ignatius of Antioch Catholic School in Yardley (Bucks County), and Saint Joseph-Saint Robert School in Warrington (Bucks County).
