This year pyrates Cometh...Village Renaissance Faire exemplifies the best ... Riches for All

What happens when a faire reaches new heights that one can surely see it from afar…well the Village Renaissance Faire knows the answer….In 2013 the faire achieved new heights a flying birds of prey show become part of its ongoing family and faire earned 9,000 returning visitors in one lone weekend…the faire has become a huge success as participants have become part of this charity faire for a cause that boasts entertainment that rivals commercial faires, at a price far less than a movie. Pyrates have heard of a land where a festival offers authentic shows from lands and times afar, amusements and games benefiting a medieval theme park, and a bounty so grand that it provides programs to its community year round...and come September 20 & 21, they will invade that the land, the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds and seek to overtake the Kingdom and its just rewards.

What success have the pyrates heard. The Pyrates have heard of the success of a faire that boasts aerialists, flying birds of prey, jousters, fire breathers, archers, living chess, trebuchet launching, live steele, petting zoos, pony rides, carriage rides, puppet shows, jugglers, dancers, singers, musicians and more. They have heard that shires from counties here and there are attracted to this grand faire. They have learned of the games of merriment and skill that include ratapult, throwing fits, castleplunk, chickenshot into a pot, Jacobs Ladder, thrown weapons, and fight a knight, and they want to test their skills reap the riches of the glorious bounty of the prize kingdom.

Although they are welcome, as all are at our faire, they will be seen from afar as crow nests designed to gain glorious views of the birds of flight, trebuchet launchings, and aerialists, will also be used to scan the crowds of thousands and protect them as pyrates are welcomed onto the grounds…as we know that our heart and soul, giving our time so others can give to our cause, the library, will never fail in the face of any challenge…so come see the battle and sure, glorious victor of chivalry, yet again this September.

Faire Director Hone is proud of the faire the community has built and expanded over the past 15 years. This is a far cry from the one day event I designed for a son captured by an interest in knights and castles. When asked how is the Village Faire different than others, Hone proudly heralds, “its the approachability, affordability, and shows that one can share with the entire family without holdings one ears.....” He continues that at Our Faire (a term he uses all the time to symbolize its a fair for and by all) “attendees become intoxicated not by the beverage they drink... but by the the shows and charactars they see at the faire.” ALthough it would be easy to say people may come because of the low cost, anyone who has been to the faire knows that is not why they return. Most would pay 2, 3, 4x or more for this faire.... “They return because of the authenticity of the faire, the excitement of our shows, and the FUN designed for all.... but, what makes it even better is that they feel good about returning year after year to the Village Renaissance Faire because its is affordable and all proceeds goto the library.” A Faire by, with, and for---A Cause.

We advise all to continue to visit not only the faire but our website as well, to see how one can become involved, or merely just to browse new additions to our faire. We expect this year to be no different than any other, large crowds treated to a day of entertainment which involves until the final week. In 2013, we added fire & ice, and the birds of prey in last month, what will it be this year. Come and see, or…if you like, contact Ken Hone, www.villagefaire.org, thedefenders@hotmail.com, 267-304-8060, and who knows, one of the new additions you maybe…HUZZAH!!!
