
Allentown, PA (January 30, 2013) – Charles F. Smith, Jr., a Member of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of The Bar Association of Lehigh County.
“I am very proud to have been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of Lehigh County and look forward to promoting the service to the legal community, professionalism and collegiality among its membership that the bar has always maintained,” said Smith.
The Bar Association of Lehigh County was officially chartered in 1905 "to advance the science of jurisprudence and the administration of justice, to encourage a thorough legal education, to uphold the honor and dignity of the bar, to cultivate social and professional association among its members, to assist the courts in the orderly and efficient administration of justice and to perpetuate the history of the profession and the memory of its members within this judicial district." Today, the association maintains offices and meeting facilities at 1114 West Walnut Street in Allentown. Services include Continuing Legal Education, a Lawyer Referral Service, Lehigh Law Journal publication, and Barristers' Club banquet and meeting facilities.

Smith, a resident of Upper Saucon Township, has 24 years of practical legal experience. Smith belongs to the Pennsylvania Self Storage Association and the Upper Saucon Township Planning Commission. Smith is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar Association of Lehigh County and assistant editor of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section’s newsletter. During his term as Chairperson of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, Smith conceptualized and initiated the Day on the Hill legislative awareness program, which has become an annual event sponsored by the PBA on Capitol Hill in Harrisburg. An active alumnus of Lafayette College, he serves as President of the Class of 1985 and is a member of the Career Services Committee.
