On Feb. 5, Gov. Tom Corbett presented his budget proposal before a joint session of the General Assembly. The $28.4 billion plan increases spending by 2.4 percent and includes Corbett’s proposals to address pension reform and transportation funding. It also increases funding for our public schools by $338 million and includes an allocation for the state police to add 290 new troopers and 90 dispatchers.
The governor’s address was just the start of the budget process. In the coming weeks, hearings will be held in Harrisburg to closely examine the details of the spending blueprint. We will be working to pass an on-time budget
for the third year in a row that continues to spend within our means.
