Board Supports District's Request to Keep Tennis Courts Public
Township Manager Thomas Beil will attend a Building Code Appeals Meeting with board recommendation.
Upper Saucon Township Manager Thomas Beil encouraged the Board of Supervisors to support Southern Lehigh School District’s goal of keeping its newly resurfaced tennis courts open to the public.
The district has been told to keep the courts locked and to add restrooms.
The supervisors agreed to support the district's goal.
CodeMaster Inspection Services determined that resurfacing the courts was significant enough of a renovation that the courts should now adhere to all modern-day regulations -- adding restrooms and keeping the courts locked.
“The school district does not want the courts to be locked,” said Beil. “They asked us to support their appeal and I’d be glad to if the board agrees.”

The board agreed to have Beil represent it at Thursday’s Building Code Appeals Board meeting. Beil and the district are hoping for either a variance or a favorable interpretation on the degree of restoration so that the courts can remain open to the public.
