Let's discuss what we are snacking on and the thought process that goes into it!

In this day and age we are so busy! We have work, school, errands, family obligations and the list goes on and on. Sometimes the last thing we want to think about are food and proper nutrition. Often times we are stressed and tired and we turn to yummy foods as a way to relieve our stress. We may consider those processed, packaged foods and snacks to be just what we need to give us the energy to get us through the next phase in our day. The exact opposite is true however. The truth is that snacking is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle. It's important to keep your body fueled throughout the day and snack time can also be a great way to relax your mind. We must however be thinking carefully about what we are putting in our bodies. One way to do this healthily is to keep plenty of nutritious snacks on hand throughout the day. When it comes to what to snack on try combining a few different snacks together. This way you will be causing yourself to think clearly about what you are eating and your snacks will satisfy your hunger for longer. An example would be to combine 1/2 oz. of walnuts, a banana and a half cup of Greek yogurt. This comes out to around 253 Calories, 15.5 g protein, 20.5 g carbs, and 7.5 g of fat. A tasty treat that will satisfy and energize!
