Exhale: Purify the Air You Breathe

The ins and outs of breathing in and out

Do you ever wonder about the air you breath? What exactly is in the air? Well we know that our air is not as pure and clean as we would all hope. Our air is full of pollutants that drastically affect our health and well being, and the primary place these pollutants can be found is indoors.

These pollutants can be separated into three phases: The Gas phase (Gas molecules, odors, toxins, chemicals), Germ phase (bacteria, fungi, pathogens, viruses, allergens), and the Solid phase (organic and inorganic particles). Hopefully you are working to rid your home of cleaning products that may contribute to Gas pollutants, and you are aware of any Germ phase pollutants that may be residing in your humble abode.

To fight Solid phase pollutants there are filters that can be installed in your home, and you can also take action by using a vacuum that has low emissions. Using a vacuum that has a HEPA bag and or filtration system is the key! Many people have moved to bag-less vacuums for convenience and savings. What they do not realize is that these vacuums are not nearly as effective at containing dust and air pollutants as vacuums that use a HEPA bag.

Find out what's happening in Upper Sauconfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

There is a reliable certification named Green Seal which rates vacuums based on their emissions and other criteria. The key to creating a home with sound and safe air quality is to educate yourself on the dangers in the air and the solutions to those dangers.
