Time to Make More Space

Here are some helpful tips for making the most of a small bedroom!

Today I’m going to talk about some ways in which to maximize space and eliminate clutter in a small living space. We’ll focus on the laundry situation in the bedroom. This seems to be a real issue simply due to the fact that many of us are used to having a chest of drawers or a dresser to store our clothes.  A simple way to maximize limited space is to trade in that hunk of furniture for a smaller storage cart or drawer unit. This may not sound very aesthetically appealing but there are actually a lot of very nice options out there. Many stores such as Target and Wal-Mart have very attractive options. If you have closet space you can even place this drawer unit inside. Prices range from $234.00 to $19.99. Another ideal option is to utilize hangers. You can use hangers for pretty much anything and if you don’t like folding laundry they are a perfect option. There is an endless assortment of hangers and they are generally very affordable. Prices range from $4.99 for a 4 pack to $24.99 for a 30 pack. If you do not have a closet you could go with a garment rack and add some storage units onto the bottom of the rack for extra storage.

So this all are sounds great, but what about the part where we actually do the laundry and take the time to organize it and put it away. The most important thing is to evaluate how you prefer to do things, make a plan, and be consistent with it. Start with small changes and work your way up. For example, pick a time each week when you do your laundry and give yourself enough time to put it away. Another would be to purchase some hangers and start hanging some of your laundry. If you see that it works well buy some more and start hanging all of your laundry. I don’t really like to take the time to fold my laundry but since I have a bin for each category of clothing I am still able to keep everything organized. Using hangers has helped me a lot too. The most important thing is to make the change as simple and easy as possible. For it to stick the new routine must become another part of your lifestyle. Best wishes!
