Jonathan Mack Heads Back to Mayor's Office in Coopersburg

Jonathan Mack served as Coopersburg Mayor for eight years, continuing a family legacy.

Coopersburg Council Tuesday night unanimously appointed ex-mayor Jonathan Mack to his former position in the wake of to become borough manager.

Mack was considered out of four candidates and will serve until the end of Paashaus' term in December 2012.

This won't be Mack's first time to wear the mayoral hat for the borough. He was mayor before Paashaus, serving from 2002 to 2010.

Council considered several candidates, including Mack; Scott Parry; Scott Cicon, an LCCC graduate and Projects Coordinator at Victaulic Company of America, and Paul McAndrew, a former councilman.

Of the four candidates, Mack was the only one present to address Council. “My feelings aren’t hurt one way or another but if I can help in any way, let me know… I’ve always had a very good relationship with [Police Chief Trexler],” he added.

Mack, employed by Merrill Lynch, is married with three children. In his spare time he volunteers with the Southern Lehigh Little League. His grandfather, Arthur Mack, served as Coopersburg mayor from 1970-1982.

After discussing the candidates and hearing from Mack, Council appointed him as mayor. “John has recent experience. I think that would be great,” Councilwoman Linda Minarik said.

Councilman Jack Felch served with Mack during his last term. “Having his experience will be helpful,” Felch said.
