Coopersburg Council Combines Committees, Changes Meetings
Council restructures committees and adds Monday meeting time
Coopersburg Council is starting 2012 with some significant changes to its governmental structure.
Newly elected president Jack Felch and vice-president Dennis Balascak presided over the Tuesday meeting and explained the new structure.
Previously council made use of seven different committees to make policy recommendations, but now has combined those committees.

The Infrastructure Committee composed of Balascak and Councilman Harvey Greenland will be in charge of streets, water and sewer systems, snow removal and other items.
One of the proposed goals for Infrastructure will be compiling a list of dates that streets had repairs done.
Administration and Finance will be responsible for human resources, financial operations and physical property. Felch and Councilman Stephen Lundy will serve on the committee.

Public Safety will be made up of Councilman John Walters and Mayor Tim Paashaus. The committee will cover police services, the fire department, EMS and disaster plans.
The Intergovernmental Relations Committee, made up of Councilwoman Linda Minarik and Councilman Rich Nalichowski, will look at the Comprehensive Plan. The committee will be tasked with zoning matters, municipal issues and permitting.
The new Governmental Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet the first Monday of the month at 5pm.
Council will have workshop meetings the first Monday of the month at 7pm, when the new Infrastructure, Public Safety, and Administration and Finance committees will meet.
Council is scheduled to have its formal meetings for business the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm.
