Coopersburg Council Talks Rail Trail

Members discuss possibility of leading additional trail development.

The Coopersburg Borough Council discussed the possibility of developing the borough's portion of Rails to Trails during the Aug. 21 meeting.

The trail, originally conceived in 2005, currently runs from Bethlehem to The hope is that the trail will eventually pass through Coopersburg, ending in Quakertown.

“We could send a message to other townships that we’re doing our part,” said Councilman Steve Lundy. “It could encourage the other townships to follow.”

The meeting served as a collaborative brainstorming session for the members who discussed economy-stimulating possibilities for the borough's future, citing the and

Council President John Felch. “[Rails to Trails] is part of our vision that won’t happen tomorrow, but it will happen.”
