Coopersburg Man Charged With Assaulting Father

  A Coopersburg man is charged with simple assault and harassment after an altercation with his father.

According to the criminal complaint, Aaron Hamlin, 36, reportedly assaulted his father, James Hamlin, at his residence on Dogwood Drive. responded to the incident.

James Hamlin was taken to the ICU at St. Luke's Hospital and reportedly suffered from two fractured ribs and bruising to his spleen and liver. He claims that he was attacked without cause, police say.

Hamlin claimed that he was defending himself from his father and attacked in self defense.

 He was held in Lehigh County Detention Center and was released on $7,500 bail on Nov. 16th.

 A preliminary hearing will be held on December 22^nd.
