Two Residents Step Forward to Fill Empty Mayoral Seat
Public won't meet candidates until after decision is made by council; Paashaus becomes borough manager April 17

After the March announcement that Coopersburg Mayor , borough Councilman Jack Felch has announced two volunteers have offered to become mayor.
But the candidates’ names have not been released.
“This is different from an open employment opportunity. Council will appoint a well-qualified candidate,” Felch said in an email.

Felch has stated he would like to make the appointment as soon as possible but that the candidates will not make an appearance at the April 17 meeting. “There is no requirement for [a candidate appearance] ...my personal opinion is that it is preferable to fill the vacancy as soon as possible,” Felch said in the email.
Council members have 30 days to fill the vacancy or a vacancy board will fill the position. With only one formal meeting a month, they will have to make an appointment April 17 or at the May meeting.

The appointee will serve the rest of Paashaus’ term, which ends in December 2012, Felch said.
