A WOMAN CALLED MOSES (Dr. Harriet Century as Harriet Tubman)

Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and became a leading abolitionist and perhaps the most well-known Underground Railroad conductor. During a ten-year span she made 19 trips into the South and escorted over 300 slaves to freedom, and, as she once proudly pointed out to Frederick Douglass, in all her journeys she “never lost a single passenger”.

Dr. Century has traveled throughout the United States portraying historical figures. She defines her role as a Historical Interpreter because she becomes the character.  Dressed in character and she weaves the story to the audience from birth to death. She engages the audience through every phase.

Trained as a teacher, Dr. Centuryearned a BA in Biology at Claflin University, a Master’s in Science Education from South Carolina State University and an Ed.D. from Temple University. She is the author of two novels, Belle and Ms. Emmaline’s Little Book of Wit and Wisdom.
