Sandra Fluke is an attorney and women’s rights activist. She came to national attention in February 2012, when she was prohibited from testifying to Congress on the importance of insurance plans covering birth control. Instead, a male-only panel discussed the issue of women’s health. She was later allowed to speak to a much smaller group of House members. National radio host, Rush Limbaugh, then took her comments and made inflammatory remarks about Fluke on his talk show calling her a slut and a prostitute. Despite ongoing personal attacks, she continues to speak out for social justice across the nation.
