Over the last several months your Southern Lehigh Community Pool has quietly raised $500,000 toward the cost of replacing our irreparable 25 meter pool and expanding our programs to meet the needs of more area residents. Southern Lehigh School District, area hospitals, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have helped us document these needs and will be of great help moving forward. Applications are pending with Upper Saucon Township, select foundations and local business leaders to get us to the critical $800,000 level before the end of 2010. Their timely substantial support should allow us to start construction this year and keep to a tight time line for a grand opening next spring. Other requests are underway for an additional $200,000 to renovate the locker rooms, add water features and increase programs over the three year campaign pledge period.
Your support at a personally significant level is especially important right now. Foundations and other prospects considering large donations want to know that folks like us are doing our fair share. To date most of the funding has actually come from outside our service area. We ask that you carefully consider this worthy cause, make your gift, and be part of what will be an invaluable benefit to our kids, families and community.
