Lifeguard Training (LGT - Registration Form)
The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course consists of lifeguard training, professional CPR, first aid skills, and preventing disease transmission. The whole course usually takes 25-33hrs. Course participants must be at least 15 years old. They must be good swimmers able to swim 300 yards with front crawl and breaststroke and retrieve a block in 7 feet of water. To successfully complete the course, participants must attend all sessions, score at least 80% on the written test and pass the 3 practical life guarding skills scenarios. Upon successful completion of the course, American Red Cross certificates in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid. Lifeguard Training and First Aid certificates are valid for 3 years. The CPR certificate is valid for 1 year. $275 includes all equipment, Lifeguard Training Text (copyright 2007) and resuscitation mask. The minimum number of participants (6) must be pre-registered to hold the class.
Please note you must be able to swim 300 yds. non-stop using only front crawl (freestyle) and breaststroke. If you cannot do these strokes very well and efficiently, please take swimming lessons before the lifeguard training class. You will not be able to continue in the class if you fail the swim test on the first day. Refund minus $25 if you fail the swim test.
