Keeping Our Schools Safe
The House recently passed legislation to help keep our schools safe and prevent violent incidents. House Bill 1801 would direct the Office for Safe Schools to develop hotlines and Internet notification systems for students, parents, teachers, school employees and community members to report potential or actual violence or possession of weapons on school property. While the bill passed the House unanimously, it awaits further consideration by the Senate.

Updated Travel App Available
PennDOT has updated its 511PA app, just in time for the summer travel season. The app provides hands-free and eyes-free travel information for state roads, the turnpike and select highways in West Virginia and New Jersey. Users can also check before they hit the road to view traffic speeds, cameras and travel alerts.
The free app is available from the iTunes App Store or Google Play stores by searching for “511PA.”
Fishing for Free
The fishing is free on Memorial Day, May 26, one of two days each year the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission does not require you to have a fishing license. It’s a great way to expose the next generation to the joys of angling. The second Fish-for-Free Day is Friday, July 4. Learn more here.
