Hopewell Teacher to be Honored at Phillies Game

Hopewell Elementary School teacher Bethann Molinari is one of 10 teachers who will be recognized during Philadelphia Phillies Teacher Appreciation Night on Friday.

A vision support teacher from Hopewell Elementary School got a special surprise from one of her second-grade students recently that includes a trip to see the Phillies face the Miami Marlins Friday.

Bethann Molinari, a major Phillies fan, has been selected as one of 10 teachers to attend the Philadelphia Phillies Teacher Appreciation Night at Friday's game, after having been nominated for the honor by one her biggest fans - Hopewell second-grader AJ.

AJ nominated Molinari as his Teacher All-Star in a contest sponsored by the Phillies and The Philadelphia Inquirer. AJ has been working with Molinari since he was 4-years-old and attending preschool, according to the Southern Lehigh School District website.

Molinari, who is employed by the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit, has taught AJ how to read and write in Braille and converts his Hopewell class material into Braille so that AJ can do the same school work as his classmates.

In nominating Molinari for the award, AJ wrote that it's because Molinari taught him to read and write that he does so well in school. He also stressed that Molinari is a big Phillies fan.
