My brief meeting last night with Mike running for “ re-election ,” not “ election, “ for LMT Supervisor
1] It had to be cut short since he was due to attend the meeting on the LMT school issues. Note the recent post on his great comments !
2] Guess Gail running for “ election “ not “ re-election “ like Mike missed another meeting ! Did anyone see her there ?

3] Just the “ facts “ like on the old Dragnet TV show – “ personal matters “ do not belong in elections – they are to remain “ private personal family matters always ! “
But of course some like to use them to “ distract and cloud “ the real issues – right out of their “ playbook ! “

4] “ Long story short “ – but more in a later blog – some say” just drive around LMT “ and see all the posted signs about the LMT Election now only days away !
Boy ! Did I get educated. My next blog – stay tuned !
But was in the area of his home, so decided to just drop off my next donation for his signs he had delivered – they are not free !
I was warmly welcomed by all !
I did not have to meet him, his “ name, “ not even a picture, alone is enough of course
“ the long time proven veteran in LMT “ – he was a “ new unproven rookie “ many decades ago. Lot of his hard work and personal sacrifice of course.
As Edison I believe said “ Nothing of significance can be accomplished without a lot of hard work for a long time ! “ Or something like that !
But now I can say I did even meet him !
Met him, his wife, son and even their dog !
Well I guess “ I cannot be all bad, “ like some may say, since after the dog got to know me, he was even licking my hands !
They all said stop to their dog – but I told them our dogs do it all the time + I had my old work clothes on since just was going to drive around, not any visits !
Well they saw “ another side of me “ – not the so “ carefully prepared conservative written postings, “ but “ an extrovert who talks a lot ! “
BTW – Churchill also took hours to prepare what he said – Google search of course !

BTW - Things “ in writing “ can go to court, but of course verbal is not worth the paper it “ isn’t “ printed on –“ I never said that, that is not what I meant, etc., “ “ Hearsay “ does not count in court !
5] A] Check my “ cred “ for my “ legal “ stuff, so I think I am qualified to make some statements verbally and in writing !
Also I have been involved in some very “ nasty “ stuff also in life – so check my cred there also.
B] Simply, Mike sure is qualified, but Gail has not convinced me.
The written minutes of LMT do go to court, if you do not know !
Have you been deposed, given sworn testimony at trial, dealt with the legal system & lawyers, etc. ? Another big education for me – life long learning !
I recommend just “ visiting the court house once a month” to just “ observe ! “ It might as well be outer space for most people, but another part of our education.
Has Gail ? I am sure those involved in LMT for so long can give their stories !
But sometimes it is the “ behind the scenes “ things that go on that are “ really more effective “ – more on that later if interested – yes right here in LMT !

6] Yea, basically if do Myers Briggs Type Indicator [MBTI] I am your typical “ nerdy “ introverted scientist !
We deal in written verifiable facts, not impressions – it is the “ interpretations “ of those facts where differences can occur, but not with the written verifiable facts.,
But had to learn to also be a ” talkative extrovert “ – my NSF training – our tax dollars at work – for my decades of STS-NSF research – my website –

7] “ Chatting “ is all part of my “ outreach “ of course to help all “ better understand and manage “ STS in their everyday lives !
So get involved in a lot of topics to better reach a lot of different people
Also “ humor “ helps – “ life is too important to take some things too seriously, but plenty of other things you must take seriously ! “

8] So what does all this STS – NSF “ stuff “ have to do with LMT ?
“ Patterns “ – all the same with some very effective and efficient ways to best deal with them.
Yes, right here in LMT !
You know when you see them in your everyday lives – e.g. spouses, children, pets, shopping, at work, etc.
“ 10 – 15 second sound bites “ of the media just do “ not “ work, but keep their ratings and profits up – by keeping the controversies going – why we now even need fact checkers for the fact checkers, etc. !
“ Both God and the devil “ are in the details and many have lost their jobs by not getting in the details enough.
I learned as a technical manager at a Fortune 500 company to write “ long, specific and detailed correspondence “ since it kept the “ so vicious corp politics “ away from me and the group of “ geniuses “ I was suppose to supervise [no, how could you, just let them do their jobs !, so we all could better get our jobs done !
9] BTW – got a minor in English, along with my BS in chemistry in college –
BS = Bachelor of Science, not the other “ BS “ – has to do with bull feces ! – just attempt at a little humor – but emphasis on the “ little “ to try to keep it “ light ! “
Very unusual for a scientist – but helped me understand people better, besides getting a life, but no expiration date as someone recently noted in one of my “ chats ! “ – you only get “ one, “ besides a technical education for my careers – yes plural !
In all of this lot of stories to tell like many of you, but have to “ stay on task and focused “ – “ LMT right now ! “

11] After it is all over, no matter what happens, many of us know, like in the past, that LMT will survive, but possibly with a lot of “ collateral damage “ – as the phrase is used so often today ! “ Innocents usually suffer the most of course !
