Loudon Wainwright III Parlor Concert at McCoole’s to be an WHYY-TV "On Canvas" Event

Loudon Wainwright III is an artist perfectly suited for the level of intimacy that an audience enjoys from the stage at McCoole’s Arts & Events Place in Quakertown. "Mr. Wainwright wrings more human truth out of his contradiction than any other songwriter of his generation," wrote Stephen Holden of the New York Times. The Grammy-winning folk artist will perform in a setting that is already becoming known by performers as a great place to connect and leave special and unique memories for their audiences. This show from the McCoole’s stage has sparked the interest of WHYY-TV. The PBS affiliate will be on-hand to capture the Thursday, December 5th performance for the Emmy-awarded "On Canvas" series.

Since 1970, Wainwright has been consistently original. He scored a hit in 1973 with "Dead Skunk" and a Grammy in 2010 for his tribute to the late Charlie Poole. Last year he released "Older Than My Old Man Now," that featured "In C," a song ranked on NPR’s 100 Favorite Songs Of 2012 The album itself was ranked on American Songwriter’s Top 50 Albums Of 2012. "Older Than My Old Man Now," marks Wainwright’s passing the age of his father, the esteemed Life Magazine columnist and editor, Loudon Wainwright Jr. In the album, Loudon examines life, family, and mortality, inspired by five generations of family from Loudon’s grandfather to his grandchildren. Performers on the album include his children Rufus and Martha Wainwright, Lucy Wainwright Roch, Lexie Kelly Wainwright and two of their three mothers, Suzzy Roche and Ritamarie Kelly.

"Loudon’s work is a powerful reminder to me that I must always be honest, funny and true to myself," said movie director Judd Apatow who cast Wainwright in his popular films, "Knocked Up" and "The 40 Year Old Virgin"). Wainwright’s acting credits also include nine films and several television roles from the historic "M.A.S.H." series, to "Parks and Recreation."
