Why are you running for District Judge?
After a career of assisting citizens and helping to keep the community I serve safe, I feel this is the next step in my life and career to now help preserve the community in which we live and enjoy. I was born and raised in this community; volunteered with the Upper Saucon Fire Dept. and the Ambulance Corps for a combined total of 37 years, married and raised my family here and now want to continue with serving our community in a new way.
What qualifies you to serve as District Judge? (Did you take the required training course? Did you pass the examination?)
I bring the experience of a career in Law Enforcement, knowledge of the court system (presented, prosecuted and testified in over 2000 cases), worked in Lehigh County Courts, integrity, fairness, honesty, compassion and an understanding of what a person entering a court room for a case is going through, and the commitment to the needs of our community.
I am enrolled in the June class with the Minor Judicial Education Board in Harrisburg.
What sets you apart from the other candidates for the job?
I have had the opportunity to be in many court cases throughout my career under many Judges. I’ve learned something from each one of them. I want to take all those pieces of what works well in the court room and what doesn’t, and apply them to how I want to run my court room in the best way that will benefit our community.
I have dedicated my life to protecting and serving the public, starting with the Air Force to my current position as a Police Officer. I would send a message to anyone who comes into our community to do crimes that they are not welcome here and if you do, you will be punished to the full extent. I believe that the citizens here deserve to have our way of life protected. I am running my campaign up close and personal, by going door to door and being out in the community, meeting many new people. I do not believe in soliciting votes by recorded phone calls. I think it is important to give voters an opportunity to meet me.
How much are you spending to run? How is your campaign being funded?
We spent much more then ever anticipated! The committee received some donations and the majority is self funded.
What, if any, endorsements have you received?
I have the backing of community support, family and friends. I have been recommended for this position by the Fraternal Order of Police Le-Hampton Lodge #35.
Do you use social media? If so, please provide links to your Facebook and Twitter.
I have put it on my personal Facebook to let my friends know that I am running for office. I do not have a separate Facebook or Twitter. I have an email for anyone to ask me questions and to show their support. mcellroyforjudge@gmail.com.
