Reports say in general that records will be broken that are about “ two [2] decades “ old. That is about my memory here also.
This is “ very unusual “ in our area compared to my hometown of Troy, NY, where it was 30 below for a month ! So those unfamiliar with such so cold weather need to get informed since it can be ” quickly life threatening “ if you are not properly prepared.

But many media are doing a very good job at alerting people about it, including our so rural & isolated township that is now even on Facebook !
Thanks Josh - nice to have you back - glad you are now much better !
You can see my other posts on Facebook for more info if you have not seen them.
FYI –
After much research, the Ambient Weather WS-2080 A wireless system Home Weather Station I got last January and am very pleased. About $130 on Amazon, but of course they are our of stock now, like they periodically are it is so popular, but will alert you when they are next available. High ratings also.
Tech support is also very good & prompt by email !
I have it mounted at the outer corner of the deck and the printout confirmed about minus 2 – no real wind chill factor since little if any wind. I happened to look at the screen last night and that is what it also said. Other weather devices close to the house read higher temperatures and different weather data of course.
I find it very useful to plan my days & traveling out for shopping, besides just knowing what is going on for many other reasons of course.
For those out of this area -
“ Wind “ is a big factor after our two [2] surprise October snow storms the past few years, where in our so rural area trees come down & power lines. So many of us were without power and could not even get out for over a week. So generators are the norm + checking up on each other of course.
High humidity is also a big issue in the summers in our area that can make is a lot more unpleasant than just dry high heat !.
Yes, if you do a Google search you will find Hosensack – about 6 houses at an intersection & the B/W picture from the 1800’s is much the same, except for the paved road of course ! Local history is fascinating. Frank Whelan’s recent history book of Lehigh County has a lot in it also.
Hosensack is from the PA German for “ pants pocket “ and there are many stories about it – one I heard was went you went way down there from Allentown, PA you had to put a sandwich in your pants pocket since you would be gone all day !
So if you are one of the new people in our area or just curious, you may want to check it out !

P.S.
