Midnight Fire on Milky Way in Lower Milford

Early reports say multiple counties were called to the scene of a major fire in Lower Milford that pulled one street together to help a family

It was just after midnight when Kyle Nieves and Samantha Brett heard what they thought was gunshots outside their home.

"It was like, 'Pop Pop Pop' right outside [the house on Milky Way]," said Nieves. “We opened the window, and we saw the fire."

Nieves and Brett are credited with calling 911 to report the fire. By the time Nieves and Brett ran outside, the family, two adults, a child, and the family's yellow Labrador named Sage, were safely across the street. The father was treated on the scene, but early reports that an individual was sent to the hospital were false.

Neighbors stood with the family across the street from the burning house, shuttling hot chocolate and coffee to the observers. Several neighbors brought blankets and extra clothing to keep the family warm while they watched firefighters battle the blaze.
