Seniors Graduate from Southern Lehigh HS
More than 260 received their high school diplomas Friday evening.
About 265 seniors graduated Friday evening as proud parents, along with other family members and friends, watched and applauded.
Congratulated by principal Christine Siegfried, the Class of 2012 received their diplomas one by one in the time-honored fashion. Their graduation was pronounced complete by Superintendent Leah Christman.
The event, held in the school's gymnasium, included speeches by the Class of 2012 valedictorian, Christopher McCarthy, salutatorian Benjamin Stohl, class vice president Joseph O'Brien, and class treasurer Brianna Yates.

Performances by graduating seniors Elizabeth Farris and Alison Newman, along with a rendition of The Beatles' “In My Life,” sung by the school's chorus, punctuated the event.
Additionally, senior Sarah Hines reflected on leaving the school, and closing remarks were heard by class secretary Katherine Fradeneck. Class president Kelsey King guided her classmates through the moving of tassels after all received their diplomas.

In total, the Class of 2012 was awarded more than $5.3 million in grants and scholarships from various colleges and universities to continue their education, Siegfried said.
After the ceremony was complete, all enjoyed refreshments in the cafeteria.
