Sentencing Postponed for Olympus Thief
The sentencing hearing for Benjamin Wilson, who pleaded guilty in a $374,000 scam against his former employer Olympus, had been scheduled for today but was postponed.
Benjamin Wilson, formerly of Jim Thorpe, had been scheduled for sentencing this morning for when he worked for the Upper Saucon company, but the hearing was postponed.
Wilson is now scheduled for sentencing at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 23.
Wilson pleaded guilty in August to one count of felony theft by deception before Lehigh County Judge James Anthony. He admitted that he had purchased televisions through Olympus and sold them on eBay under the name "benandem98". Then he would intercept the purchase orders and alter them to reflect the purchase of a Dell workstation or piece of scientific equipment.

Some of the TVs were delivered to Wilson's home but many went directly to the buyers on eBay. An investigation began in June 2011 after an Olympus employee contacted Upper Saucon police to report a suspected theft, according to court records.
Wilson was arrested earlier this year not long after he quit his job and moved his family from Jim Thorpe in Carbon County to Katy, Texas. He was extradicted from Texas in April and pleaded guilty on Aug. 20 in Lehigh County Court.
