Solehi Board Congratulates Liberty Bell Student Artists

The Southern Lehigh School Board recognizes a group of Liberty Bell Elementary School students for their participation in a recent art show.

It was a packed house at Monday night's meeting of the Southern Lehigh School Board. That's because the board invited a group of Liberty Bell Elementary School students and their families for a special awards presentation, recognizing the students for their involvement in a recent art show at the school.

The students were called to the front of the meeting by Liberty Bell Art Teacher Lindsay McDonnell, and Board President Jeffrey Dimmig presented each of them with a certificate of congratulation. Then Dimmig and McDonnell posed for a picture with each student and their particular painting before the student returned to his or her seat.

This recognition ceremony is part of a -- in particular those students who might not get recognition for their accomplishments through other channels.

School board member James Lindsay Jr. said he really enjoyed the awards presentation and that he hoped that the board would get to experience more of the same at future board meetings.

"It was so nice to see all of these smiling faces. The students were happy to be here. The families were happy to be here," he said, pointing out how easy it is to focus on the negative things going on. "Let's start grabbing the good stuff. We should do more of this."
