SoLeHi Sports Scoreboard: Summer Edition

BOYS BASKETBALL

The varsity boys basketball team won its game against Boyertown Sunday night.  Summer league is providing the boys a chance to work out in the off season, as well as honing their skills for next season.  The boys will also be playing in the Stellar High School Tournament, scheduled for Wednesday, July 6 through Sunday, July 10 at Allentown’s Cedar Beach Park

SOUTHERN LEHIGH SWIMMING

The SoLeHi Stingray swim team dominated in its meet against Whitehall Monday.  The team scored 399 team points to Whitehall’s 165.  The team had a bye for Thursday’s action, placing it in second place behind Quakertown, which has completed three meets to Solehi’s two.  Both Quakertown (3-0) and Solehi (2-0) are undefeated. The Swim Team will be hosting Summer Splash on Saturday, July 9 at the pool from 8am until 3pm.  The Summer Splash is a sprint meet and includes area swim teams.

BOYS SOCCER

Boys Soccer is back in play at Lehigh University after a week off due to field assignments.  The boys defeated the Bears FC 3-0, keeping its undefeated streak alive.  The boys are in second place behind Saucon Valley by virtue of points scored, since Saucon Valley is also undefeated.

SOUTHERN LEHIGH POOL OPENING

The SoLeHi pool opening is very close.  There are a few items that need to be completed, but the opening is imminent. With the weather heating up this week, the opening of the pool will be a welcome event in the area.

HIGH SCHOOL GOLF

Mark your calendars!  Tryouts for the high school Golf team will be held the week of August 15 at Wedgewood Golf Course in Upper Saucon Township. For additional information, please contact Coach Matt Greenawald at greenawaldm@slsd.org 

THIS WEEK'S FEATURED RECREATION AREA: Tumblebrook Municipal Golf Course  

A little gem of a golf course sits in Upper Saucon Township -- the Tumblebrook Municipal Golf Course.  The course features nine holes with two sets of tees, allowing it to be played like an 18-hole golf course.  Tumblebrook was designed by the legendary Donald J. Ross, a well-known golf course designer who designed more than 400 courses, including Pinehurst in North Carolina. Its small size makes it a great choice for a quick round of golf, or when golfing as a beginner. The course is at 3600 Jacoby Road.  Call 610-282-0377 for information on tee times and rates.
