BOYS BASKETBALL

Summer League basketball resumed at Cedar Beach. The Varsity boys dropped two games -- one to Freedom and another to Parkland. Junior Varsity did not play due to SportsFest.
SOUTHERN LEHIGH SWIMMING

The swim team ended its season with a 6-1 record, finishing second in the Suburban Swim League behind Quakertown, who finished the season undefeated. The team will compete in the Best of the Best meet on July 20 in Northampton. Championships will be held Saturday, July 23. A list of athletes participating in the championships can be found on the swim team website.
BOYS SOCCER
The Boys Summer League team, coached by Kevin Fuller, finished its regular season play in the number one position by defeating Saucon Valley 3-2 Wednesday night. The boys finished the regular season play with a 9-1 record. They enter the playoffs as the number-one seed and face the Nazareth Blue Eagles at 6pm Monday. Subsequent playoff games will be on Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30pm.

FUN RUNS
The George Yasso Memorial 5K Run and Walk will be held in Fountain Hill on Saturday, July 23 at 8:30am. The event is sponsored by the Borough of Fountain Hill and St Luke's Hospital and benefits the George Yassi and James Shelly Scholarship Funds.
Local ski and resort area Bear Creek Mountain will be the site of the Bald Bear Triathlon (July 30) and the Dirty Bear Z-Terra Triathlon (July 31). Descriptions of these events and more information can be found on the Bear Creek website.
For total fun, consider the 31st annual "5 Bars 10 km Beer Run" on Saturday, Aug. 6 beginning at 4pm at the Iron Horse Restaurant in Alburtis. This run is definitely NOT competitive, with running faster than seven minutes per mile strictly prohibited. It is, however, an opportunity to have a good time and meet new people. Contact Fran Gough at 610-377-7530 for details.
