Coopersburg Police Chief Dan Trexler won both the Republican and Democratic nominations for a District Judge seat in the Upper Saucon area, according to unofficial tallies.
Seven candidates were vying for the nominations. All were cross-filed, which means they appeared on both the Democratic and Republican ballots in Tuesday's primary.
Trexler, 44, a Republican, received the most votes on the Republican ticket—632—according to unofficial tallies posted by wfmz.com. He also received the most votes on the Democratic ticket—231, to win that nod, according to the report.

Unless someone wages a write-in campaign in the fall, Trexler is virtually assured the seat since he won both nominations. The district judge seat serves Upper Saucon, Coopersburg and Lower Milford.
Trexler has been the Coopersburg police chief since 2000.
