Young Wrestler to Compete at National Championship
Matt Mirth will compete at the Asics 2012 Cadet National Championships in July.

student Matt Mirth recently won the gold medal at the Pennsylvania Amateur Wrestling Federation (PAWF) State Championships in freestyle wrestling, and the silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 145-pound cadet division, according to an announcement.
The championships were held on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3 in Mill Hall, Clinton County.

By placing in the top three, Mirth earned a spot on Team Pennsylvania and will compete at the Asics 2012 Cadet National Championships to be held July 14 to 21 in Fargo, N.D.
Team Pennsylvania wrestlers will compete against state medalists from 42 other states in what is often regarded one of the most important and prestigious amateur wrestling events of the year.

His second trip to the championships, Mirth last year also competed for Team Pennsylvania after he placed seconnd in the state in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
Mirth, 15, will be a sophomore at SLHS in the fall and has wrestled year-round since autumn 2010. He has wrestled for the past six years.
Competing on the school's varsity team this past school year, he qualified for regionals after placing fifth in the district with a record for the season of 28-6.
Mirth trains four days a week with both Peak Performance and LVAC Wrestling clubs and is the son of Kyle and Rose Mirth.
