Bucks County Man Who Gave Blood 465 Times to Be Honored

Paul Kuriger of Upper Southampton will be named a Give Life Hero by the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania during an awards breakfast Thursday.

A Bucks County man who has given blood 465 times will be honored by the Red Cross Thursday. 

Paul Kuriger of Upper Southampton will be named a Give Life Hero by the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania during an awards breakfast Thursday.

“I think the real heroes are the people who volunteer their time to help when a disaster strikes,” Kuriger told the Bucks County Courier Times. “The donations do not bother me physically, so I felt that if I could help someone with my donations, then why not."

Kuriger has been donating blood for 35 years, the Courier Times reported. Most recently he has been donating blood platelets, a process that takes longer than regular blood donations, the Courier Times said.

Thursday’s breakfast will honor individuals “who exhibit the spirit of humanitarianism by showing kindness and courage through acts of heroism in their community,” according to information from the Red Cross.

Other honorees who will be recognized during the breakfast include:

  • Aleesio Conigliaro, Tyler Pietrowski, Zack Pietrowski, Illijah Roderiquez, Brice Tate, Roman Tkack and Pepe Vala, Good Samaritan Heroes
