Beginning Astronomy Course

This beginning astronomy course will be a great introduction for those looking to get involved in the hobby of astronomy, or a refresher for those that have already started. The course includes 6 evening lectures on Wednesdayss at 7:30pm, and two separate evening obseration sessions (date and times to be scheduled with the group) at a local observing site. There will be no lecture on April 20. Topics will include learning the sky, identifying constellations and star patterns, star hopping, planetary observation, telescopes and optics for astronomy, stellar evolution and star types, and obsering DSO's (deep sky objects). Stargazing will be included in the evening lectures as skies and weather permit. Druing the observing sessions, a number of different scopes will be available including an 18 inch dobsonian telescope. Course includes all lectures and materials, stargazing and observing nights, and use of telescopes under supervision.
