Man Yanked Uber Passenger From Car, Robbed Him On Street Road: Police

Breaking: A 23-year-old man yanked an Uber passenger from a car and robbed him on Street Road, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, PA — A 23-year-old Southampton man whom police say yanked an Uber passenger from a car and robbed him of his wallet last month on Street Road is now in police custody, according to authorities in Upper Southampton.

Peter Mastromarco is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident, which happened late on July 16.

The victim told police he was a passenger in an Uber car traveling through the intersection of Street and Meadow roads, when a black pickup truck being driven by Mastromarco stopped nearby. Mastromarco got out, approached the Uber car, opened the passenger door and forcibly removed the victim from the car, according to police.

Mastromarco searched the victim’s pocket, taking his wallet, which had cash and his identification inside. The victim sustained abrasions to his leg and arm, and his shorts were torn, police said.

Police later identified the driver of the pickup truck as Mastromarco.

He surrendered to the detective division on Aug. 10. He was processed and then arraigned on robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance charges.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31.
