Upper Southampton Police Track Down Alleged Eyeglass Thief

David McDowell Mundy, 38, has been charged in connection with the theft of more than $2,000 worth of RayBan glasses.

Officers with the Upper Southampton Police Department are being credited for locating an alleged eyeglass thief.

Officers from Newtown Township say local police helped them find the man who they say stole $2,000 worth of eyeglasses from a store in Newtown. David McDowell Mundy, 38, has been charged in connection with a theft reported Wednesday at Design for Vision in Newtown.

He allegedly fled the store with approximately $2,000 worth of RayBan glasses and was located after video surveillance from the theft was circulated to area police departments. The next day, officers from Upper Southampton had contact with Mundy at a Glasses Galore. They noticed he fit the description of the suspect from the Newtown theft and notified local authorities.

Newtown Township Police ultimately identified Mundy as the suspect from the Design for Vision theft and he was arrested, arraigned and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility. He has been charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.

"Great communication between our two police departments and the public's sharing of information resulted in this arrest, thank you," police said.
