"Thanksgiving is around the corner, and The Alliance for Health Equity wants you to sit back, relax, and not have to bake a pie for the holiday. This is our way of showing our deep gratitude," the Alliance said in a statement.
"Together, we have made programs and services accessible for all, increased healthcare services, revitalized parks and playgrounds and created spaces to listen to the community's voice — all focused on strengthening and becoming a healthier and inclusive community."
In addition to the free pies, the Alliance will be offering prizes. According to the organization, five of the pies will be stuffed with a "golden ticket," actually a gift card to assist in Thanksgiving preparation. Businesses like ACME of Thorndale, Wegmans of Downingtown and Giant of Downingtown have donated these prizes.
Additionally, Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., a mining and steel company and partner of the Alliance, will attend the Nov. 23 event to promote job opportunities, according to organizers of the event.
When registering online for a free pie, community members also have an opportunity to make a holiday donation to the Alliance for Health Equity, which will help support the health and wellness of the Coatesville community.
