"Our thoughts are with the victim's family and loved ones as they face this unimaginable loss," Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said in a statement. "While no prosecution can undo this tragedy, we will get justice for the victim and her family."

The incident occurred at a Coatesville home at some point on Sunday morning.

Reza-Gonzales later told police that he and the victim had been arguing and he had choked her, authorities said.

Police found the woman dead in her bed with bruises on her neck.

Reza-Gonzales called 911 at around 11 a.m. to report thoughts of self harm, the DA said, before telling police what happened. He was found in the area of Chester Avenue and East Lincoln Highway.

Judge Gregory Hines arraigned Reza-Gonzales and booked him at Chester County Prison without bail.

A preliminary hearing is forthcoming.
