DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A tornado touched down in Downingtown during Thursday's powerful storms that swept through the Delaware Valley, the National Weather Service said Friday night.
The tornado was rated an EF-0, which is the lowest rating on the scale.
EF-0 classifies tornadoes with wind gusts between 65 and 85 miles per hour, strong enough to uproot small trees, take tiles off of roofs, and snap off branches.
The Downingtown tornado was one of three that hit the region on Thursday, the National Weather Service said. EF-1 tornados have been confirmed in Dover, Delaware and Barclay, Maryland.
The agency said that they would provide further information on the event as their investigations continued.
No injuries have been reported.
