Board ends live video portal access to Chester County Voter Services by 2-1 vote (dailylocal.com) — Chester County's Board of Elections, meeting in West Chester, has ended public livestream access to Central Scan ballot counting and will now confine in-person observers to a separate room. The 2–1 party-line vote also rejected proposals to lengthen retention of surveillance footage, sparking debate over how to balance election security, transparency, and practical access for residents who cannot travel to West Chester on workdays.
2. YMCA Offers Free Memberships to Chester County Seventh Graders (mychesco.com subscription) — West Chester families with seventh graders can now get free YMCA memberships for the entire 2026–27 school year and following summer, including access to the West Chester Area YMCA. The initiative covers all Chester County seventh graders and adds a new weekly Leaders Club in West Chester this fall, blending leadership training, community service, and team-building for students in grades five through twelve.
3. Food Tossed, Cockroaches Found in Chester County Inspections (mychesco.com) — Chester County's latest food-safety inspections included several facilities in and around West Chester, with some locations discarding food and adjusting equipment after temperature and sanitation problems. Inspectors also reported pest activity, sanitizer issues, and documentation gaps, while listing multiple West Chester restaurants and shops that met standards. Residents can file confidential complaints or illness reports directly with the county.
4. Chester County Infrastructure Draws $2.2 Million in Grants (mychesco.com) — West Chester–area residents will see benefits from more than $2.2 million in state grants for Chester County sewer, stormwater, emergency communications, and bridge upgrades, including major projects in West Goshen and East Bradford. Funding will also support 911 center improvements, countywide flood-safety equipment, tourism kiosks, and a regional clothing distribution van, aiming to boost safety, infrastructure, and local business activity.
