1. West Chester Borough Manager Metrick proposes preliminary 2027 budget (dailylocal.com) — West Chester's borough manager is proposing a 2027 budget that replaces the now-repealed stormwater fee with a 1.02‑mill property tax increase, aiming to fund aging stormwater infrastructure. With many tax‑exempt properties, including West Chester University, officials are trimming program scope, eyeing a leaner workforce, and tightening the vehicle fleet while stressing that council will refine the plan this fall.
2. West Chester Borough okays 10-year West Chester University master plan (dailylocal.com) — West Chester Borough Council has approved West Chester University's 10‑year master plan, but only the zoning framework, meaning each future project must still undergo full review. The plan could reshape traffic, housing, and pedestrian areas near campus, including possible changes to Church Street and key intersections, while requiring the university to share enrollment, housing, and noise-related construction details with the borough each year.
3. Food Tossed as Chester County Inspectors Flag Major Violations (mychesco.com) — Health inspectors recently cited several Chester County eateries, including Avalon Restaurant and Pizza 316 in West Chester, for serious food-safety issues like unsafe temperatures, poor handwashing, and sanitizer failures, forcing some food to be discarded. A number of West Chester establishments also passed inspection, and residents are encouraged to report unsanitary conditions or illness to the county Health Department using its complaint line and online form.
4. Chester County Hospital Seeks Two More Years for Mobile MRI (mychesco.com) — If you rely on Chester County Hospital, officials are asking West Goshen's zoning board to let their temporary mobile MRI stay in place through late 2028, with a hearing set for Sept. 28 on Paoli Pike in West Chester. That same meeting will also consider a request to replace a shed with a larger garage at a Prospect Avenue property in town.
